Hang them early, turn them on when you want
Putting your lights up and turning them on are two different days. Hanging lights in the fall, while the roof is dry and the days are warmer, is safer and easier than working on an icy roof in December.
Once they are up, you choose when to turn them on. Many families wait until after Thanksgiving.
Why early is better in Minnesota
- Snow and ice. Snow can come any time in November, and an icy roof or gutter is no place for a ladder.
- Cold. Lines, clips and hands are all harder to work in the cold.
- Dates fill up. Installers book up through November, and the best dates go first.
When to book
Installs start in October, and booking early gets you an earlier date. Spots fill up fast in November, so the sooner you get your free quote, the more dates you can choose from.
When they come down
We take everything down January 1–10 and store it until next season, so you never climb up in the cold or find room in the garage for boxes of lights. Want them up a little longer? Just ask, extensions are allowed.
